Over the last couple of days, crypto content creators have cried out that YouTube has been deleting related videos from its platform. YouTube has now said that the removal was a mistake.

According to reports, a spokesperson for the video-sharing platform has described the removal as an error. The person said:

“With the massive volume of videos on our site, sometimes we make the wrong call. When it’s brought to our attention that a video has been removed mistakenly, we act quickly to reinstate it. We also offer uploaders the ability to appeal removals and we will review the content.”

Reports also say that the spokesperson insisted that the rumour of a YouTube crackdown is false and that the service has not updated any of its rules to exclude crypto.

Regardless of YouTube’s admittance of the error, there are still a lot of videos reportedly missing from the platform. Chris Dunn, a popular crypto expert with related content, has said that many of his videos, still haven’t been restored. According to a tweet posted by Dunn, YouTube removed his videos saying that they were “harmful or dangerous content”.

Speaking to CoinDesk, Dunn said he is “seriously considering walking away from YouTube.” He supposedly already has a goodbye video already recorded and is waiting to see if things will change.

Maybe popular YouTubers will move to blockchain live streaming platform DLive, as popular PewDiePie did a few months ago.
