According to an official press release, Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform has just unveiled its “Azure Heroes”, powered by blockchain non-fungible tokens (NFT). The announcement states that the idea is to reward developers who are making great strides and contributing to the industry.

“Azure Heroes aims to reward individuals for verifiable acts of impact such as coaching, creating demos, building sample code, blogging about Azure or completing certain challenges. Community members that have demonstrated their contributions will be recognized with badges across a number of categories.”

Per the announcement, the tokens are powered by the Ethereum blockchain and created with Enjin, a popular blockchain gaming platform. The program will reward people with different “badgers” which will have an increasing limited supply of tokens from the smallest with 100 tokens to the largest with 10,000 tokens. The badgers include Inclusive Leader, Content Hero, Community Hero, Mentor, and Maker.

The journey to becoming an Azure Hero begins with a nomination. People are allowed to either nominate themselves or others. The really also states that “community members that have demonstrated verifiable impact in one of several categories will be chosen to receive a badge.”

A few days ago, we reported that Microsoft is developing a blockchain game in conjunction with Eidos and Fable Lands. Dubbed “Arena of Death”, the game is based on “The Way of the Tiger”, a gamebook released back in the 1980s.
